PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING: Please read the entire auction listing, including shipping costs, before writing to ask a question. OUR GOAL IS CUSTOMER SATISFACTION. In order to meet that goal, we will ALWAYS work with our customers on any concerns that may arise. In the unlikely instance that you feel the need to open a resolution dispute before working with us, you will immediately be blocked from any further chance to acquire the rare music we present each and every week. Payment is required within seven days. We mail all paid items ONE WEEK after auctions end. Please keep in mind our listings are time consuming in detail and we are often traveling to find these gems, which at times delays the delivery schedule by a day or two. We ALWAYS process and ship every paid order. We have no control over parcels once they are mailed from our local Post Office.Overseas mail to some countries (Italy, Russia, France, in particular) has became very slow. Opening a dispute for slow mail is unacceptable and will result in blocking the bidder. We work hard to provide excellent service as is represented by our 8000 plus positive feedback. We use a VPI machine and thoroughly clean all records. Each order is carefully packaged by removing the LP from the jacket to avoid seam splits, use of 3 ml plastic cover sleeves over each LP and jacket, cardboard pad inserts, and placed in sturdy record mailers for safe delivery. We take Customer Service seriously, and want you to be satisfied. RARE for sure, hardly ever turns up but occasionally ... Original 1969 first pressing in LAMINATED gatefold cover ... the first of two albums that were released by this remarkable underground hippie crew who play an astonishing brand of West Coast psychedelia ... the first MAD RIVER album springs to mind, but these guys are even (way) better....
Wide Open N-Way is the first album by the Danish psychedelic, progressive rock band Day Of Phoenix. There is not much information about Day Of Phoenix. They were formed in 1968 in Denmark by three ex-members from a band called The Maniacs. Cy Nicklin, one of them left to join Culpeper's Orchard, but they were quickly joined by Hans Lauridsen and Erik Stedt and went on to record Wide Open N-Way in Copenhagen. They tried to sound as much as possible American, playing West Coast psychedelia and singing in English. If you are interested in the sixties underground hard rock or psychedelic movement this is definitively a record you should listen to. Should easily appeal to progressive fans as well...
Day of Phoenix initially started out as a blues rock band who took a more experimental and psychadelic turn. The music on Wide Open N-Way is a mix of west coast psychadelic rock and semi-progressive rock with complex rhythms. The music is guitar driven and the two guitarists Karsten Lyng and Ole Prehn compliment each other brilliantly throughout the album. Hans Lauridsen´s vocals are pretty strong and with not much of a Danish accent (which is something that can´t be said about many Danish bands singing English language lyrics in the sixties and seventies). The rhythm section includes drummer Henrik Friis and bassist Erik Stedt (also a member of Danish psychadelic rock act Beefeaters). The music is generally pretty dark and with three out of five songs on the album that has a playing time over 10 minutes each there´s lots of room for long jamming guitar solos. The album is produced by Tony Reeves ( Colosseum, Greenslade), this album received attention because of his fame. Overall the limited studio time gives the album an unpolished quality that remains quite charming really.

CONDITION: The cover: the fragile UK gatefold is nicely clean and laminated, looking quite nice, gets M- rating === almost impossible to find without shelf wear, the cover did not wear well. This copy is highly collection worthy with clean black back cover that is normally impossible to find clean. No split seams, no writing. fresh original colors, no delete marks, no split seams, no bends, and no writing ... collection worthy rarity ...
The vinyl: all shiny over both sides, rated "EX" (excellent) to M- Play grade was highly enjoyable - this is a thoroughly GREAT Lp.... both Greenwich labels are clean
