Ozzy Osbourne left Black Sabbath by the late 70s. (Fired, or quit. It depends on who you ask!) Ozzy began his OVER FOUR decades long successful solo career with the 1980 release of 'Blizzard of Oz', and 'Diary of a Madman', which came out roughly six months later, in 1981. To create those two metal masterpieces, Ozzy hired a band consisting of British musicians, and one American. That young American guitarist was Randy Rhoads...

Randy Rhoads was a founding member and the lead guitarist for Quiet Riot before he was hired by Ozzy. Randy played on the first two Quiet Riot albums ('Quiet Riot' from 1977, and 'Quiet Riot II', released in 1978), and a Quiet Riot album, titled 'The Randy Rhoads Years', which was released in 1993. Randy also played on the first two Ozzy records, as well as an EP titled 'Mr. Crowley Live EP', which came out in 1980. Randy also has his amazing guitar work featured on Ozzy's 1987 album 'Tribute' (which turns THIRTY FIVE this year!), and the 2011 live Ozzy album titled 'Ozzy Live'.

Randy had learned classical music after taking guitar lessons, and before he passed away. He lost his life, way too soon, in an accidental plane crash. Ozzy, Randy, and the band and crew were traveling to their next show in Florida when a small plane, carrying Randy and a few others, crashed. There were no survivors. Ozzy has admitted to being scarred for life after the accident. Even Sharon, Ozzy's wife and manager, loved Randy like a son. (RIP Randy Rhoads. You were one of rock's most talented musicians, and we all miss you, over four decades later....)

This past spring marked the FORTIETH anniversary of the death of Randy Rhoads. It's incredible for ANYONE to make this kind of impact for only being with us for such a short time. In today's rocking good deal, we have up for grabs a sweet Randy Rhoads and Ozzy Osbourne bundle! Featuring a rare 7" picture disc and FOUR vintage Randy and Ozzy magazines!

First up is the 2012 release of the song "Believer", on a special black and white colored vinyl/picture disc 7" record! This was a really limited edition Record Store Day release, and taken from the 30th anniversary collector's edition of the two releases combined: 'Blizzard of Oz' and 'Diary of a Madman'! It's awesome, and is "Believer" on the A side, and "Goodbye to Romance" on the B side! ("Goodbye to Romance" is the 2010 guitar and vocal mix, which cleans it up a bit, so that it sounds fantastic!) It's also polka dotted, just like Randy's guitar, strap, and vest!

But we CAN'T stop there, right? No...of course not! You'll also get a bundle of FOUR vintage rock magazines featuring Randy and Ozzy (or just Randy)! First in that lot is the April 1982 edition of 'Hit Parader' magazine! Mags were finished and printed months before the date on the cover, so this came out WAY before the fatal accident. Ozzy is on the cover, and inside are pics of Randy and the band! Amazingly enough, this FORTY year old rock mag is in excellent condition! No pages torn or dog-eared, and no handwriting anywhere on it! Holding up well, for an ANCIENT mag from the early 80s!!

Next up is the 1987 issue of 'Guitar' magazine, and an issue that is THIRTY FIVE years old! This looks like it was released to coincide with the Ozzy album 'Tribute', and features Randy Rhoads on the cover, and an extensive article on Randy inside! There's also sheet music for some Ozzy songs, and a Randy Rhoads guitar solo! And also holding up well and looking amazing for something that old!

Next in line is the August 1998 issue of 'Guitar' magazine! Featuring Ozzy and OzzFest on the cover, this one interviews Ozzy, and there's quite a bit written about Randy, Jake E. Lee, and Zakk Wylde (who has always loved and admired Randy Rhoads' guitar playing, and has lovingly referred to Randy as "Saint Rhoads", or "Saint Randy")! In great condition, and looking almost new!

And the last piece in the face-melting good deal is the March 2012 issue of 'Classic Rock', from the UK, and the Randy Rhoads tribute issue! Randy is on the cover, looking like a rock god, and decked out in polka dots! Released to remember Randy on the 40th anniversary of his death. The Randy Rhoads article alone is almost a DOZEN pages long!! In great condition, and in its original jacket (which features yet another Randy and Ozzy pic, and the included CD! 'Classic Rock' magazine is published in the UK, and puts many American rock mags to shame! (Just my opinion, I know, but it really IS an awesome mag! With TONS of great articles, pics, record reviews, and ads of upcoming shows, at that time.)

Hard to believe Randy was taken away from us FORTY years ago. He was truly one of rock's greatest musicians, and is still revered as an important part of metal. (Fun fact: Quiet Riot, on the strength of Randy Rhoads playing with Ozzy and being their former guitarist, went to number 1 on the Billboard Top 200 Albums chart in 1983, with their 'Metal Health' album. The first heavy metal album to do just that!) How many musicians are still respected, admired, and emulated after being gone for forty years? Only the greats...
