Here’s one of those remarkable blues records that only comes around every once in a great while. This is Willard Thomas, aka Ramblin’ Thomas, who grew up around Logansport, Louisiana. He was as self-taught guitarist who played in Shreveport and Oklahoma, before he was ‘discovered’ in Dallas.
He didn’t record that much – only leaving behind eighteen sides between 1928-1932. He’s oft been compared to Blind Lemon Jefferson and his guitar work does run a bit of a parallel there. This one’s from a session in Chicago in February of 1928. It was his third record for Paramount.
