Finally back in orbit after 40 years, Going Up lands once again to remind us just how weird and wonderful Richard Hewson's The RAH Band really were. Dropped in 1983 by a one-man funk army from Stockton-on-Tees, this LP fuses cosmic synth pop, Balearic boogie and lounge-funk swagger into something gloriously unclassifiable. Opener 'Messages from the Stars' has become a viral sensation and still feels beamed in from a pastel-tinted future, while the rest of the record drips with drum-machine sleaze, string-soaked sparkle and offbeat charm. Restored and remastered for this issue, Going Up remains a star-dusted, genre-melting trip.
