Description
Very Rare Queen "A Night At The Opera"
MINT Condition 12" Test Pressing
"Original Master Recording. Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab. Test Pressing. Not for sale. Catalog #MFSL 1067. Pressed in Japan. Manufactured by Victor Company of Japan, Ltd. for MFSL, Inc."
Cardboard cover is blank with only the catalog number written on front.
No dates listed. 12". 33 rpm. Condition: MINT. No scratches. I bought this at a record show at least 15 years ago and kept in a slip cover ever since. I never played it and it doesn't appear to have ever been played or even taken out of the slip cover. A test pressing is usually a white label vinyl record with the contents printed or hand written on the label. After manufacturing, a small number of vinyl test pressings (usually under 5) are produced to check sound quality. They usually bear only plain white labels, sometimes handwritten labels or prints like ‘advance only’. Usually they have no catalog numbers and can be identified only by the matrix no. Even rarer than white label or promo issues, these are the first copies of a recording manufactured at the pressing plant, and are generally produced in very small quantities to test the mastering levels, quality of materials (etc.), as the name implies. Never meant for general circulation, they are quite rare and, as a result, can be very valuable--depending on the title, of course. Will be sent with extra care in cardboard & bubble wrap packing.
Thank you for looking and good luck to bidders!
