Edit: Someone kindly messaged me and confirmed it is a Japanese Acetate promo single used for radio play.
The tape on the B side was likely used to stop the b side getting played pre release (or instead of the single)
So....
Im not entirely sure what this is, i sell a few records on Discogs but cant find this one (on there or anywhere else)
What i can say is it is a Japanese copy of Another One Bites The Dust by Queen.
It is also quite heavy and almost feels like a shellac 78, though its not.
It weighs 0.06KG as opposed to 'normal' 7" vinyl which is around 0.04kg
(I weighed a few for comparison, i know this may vary)
I'm not 100% sure but it may be an Acetate?
If anyone knows how i can confirm this, please let me know and i'll be happy to try and get to the bottom of it!
It is certainly 'stiffer' and heavier and actually feels cold to the touch which could suggest it has the aluminium disc within as some (all?) Acetate has.
The B Side is a mystery, Google Lens Translate doesn't tell me what the text says and i cant play it due to the tape which seems to have been purposely placed over the grooves on one part, there isn't a clear reason why its there, almost as if it is actually there just to prevent this side being played but i don't know for sure!
In one picture I've tried to show the text which has been lined out in case someone out there can read it.
There are no matrix or Cat numbers etched or stamped int the run out
Condition wise it plays OK, Side A has no skips or significant damage but does have some light surface wear which causes crackles and the odd pop.
Side B is the same although unplayable while the tape is in place, by all means remove it once its yours and see whats on there!
the vinyl may clean up nicer than it currently looks but i don't have the right gear to do it properly so have left it as is.
It is in a generic sleeve
So i'm listing this as an auction, low start and will let it run, It will be sold as seen, hopefully someone out there knows what it is or is just a Queen fan or odd/rare record collector and this is of interest.
I don't know if its worth 50p or is the rarest record on earth so i'll just see how it goes on here!
