Queen : Rock Montreal 3LP Box Set 2007
This now hard to find box set is in superb condition overall and of course contains three LPs pressed on heavyweight vinyl. The previous owner assured me they had never been played and as such there is no spindle wear.A1 / B1 / C1 / D1 / E1 / F1 - Etched in run out grooves "The Paradigm 1/2 Speed Process"
S1 is Near Mint / S2 is Mint-
S3 is Mint- ('Love Of My Life' is VG+) / S4 is Mint-
S5 is Mint- / S6 is Mint-
The Box is Near Mint
The picture sleeves are Mint, Near Mint & Mint
The labels are Mint
Visual grading
There is no spindle wear to be seen at all. S1 and S3 have one small area each where you can see a faint profusion of little scratch marks. Apart from that the vinyls are in sublime condition and as per the manufacturing process there are some wave type marks here and there. This is nothing to be concerned about as this is how this heavyweight vinyl was produced.
Play grading
S1 plays perfectly aside from a little crackle on the intro. This is just the 'audience cheering' section so there is actually no interference during the music. What is particularly obvious with this heavyweight vinyl is how strong and deep the audio is, it plays with a definite warmth and a very powerful bass sound. S2 has audio of an immaculate standard and as per S1 the quieter sections play in stunning fashion. There is no intrusive 'background' of any kind and 'Save Me' is a prime example of this.
S3 plays with great depth and clarity again although there is some interference during 'Love Of My Life'. There is a crackle sound per revolution for much of it but the volume level does vary and it really isn't too intrusive for the majority. The music still plays very clearly. The remainder of the side plays in stunning fashion. S4 plays without fault and is another immaculate listen. No static, clicks or pops and incredible power once more.
I am pleased to report that both S5 and S6 plays 'as new'. 'Bohemian Rhapsody' has audio of Mint- quality as per all the tracks! The strength of the audio is obvious here and the many louder sections play with no distortion. 'High end' audio at its very best.
The Box
This is in near perfect condition. Visually stunning there are no corner splits and only a couple of faint indent lines. As near to Mint as you will ever find.
Picture sleeves
The first and third are immaculate and the second is close to that. The side just has a 2cm area where it is wearing a little thin but I hasten to add it is not a split.
The labels
The labels are 'as new' with no spindle wear and no marking to be seen.
Play tested on my Pro-Ject Essential III Turntable / B&W 684 Speakers
I grade according to "Record Collector" guidelines.
