Description
Those of you who have been watching my auctions know by now that I am not prone to hyperactive and fanciful descriptions of my LPs. This one is different. This is the best Kije I've ever had the pleasure of owning or hearing. I love it so much I don't want anyone to buy it, so I am starting the price high. Don't bid on this, I want a reason to keep it. :-)
Prokofiev: Lieutenant Kije. Chicago Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Claudio Abbado. Deutsche Grammophon 45 28GG 0004 Japanese 45 RPM Polydor Issue. Disc and Cover and OBI are NM. Superb/powerful.
I will be listing over 100 new titles in the coming days. Please keep your eye on my 'Other Items'.
I have been collecting LPs for about 10 years. Almost all of which was Classical, Opera, Showtunes. Then about 5 years ago, I began to sell off most of the 'cheap' vinyl, the stuff that isn't worth much, and has no collectibility. Then, I started buying expensive, superb sounding 'Audiophile' collectible vinyl. Sometimes, I paid too much just to have that rare item. Sometimes, I paid too much just because I wanted something different. Sometimes, I got an incredible deal because the seller didn't know what I would have paid for the LP. :-)
All LPs have their own 2 or 3 mil plastic sleeve for protection. Some Selections sell for more than $100 by themselves.
My preference in the last few years has been to buy a lot of Japanese pressings. My favorite label to collect is the Toshiba 'Pro Use' Lps, which are going for ever higher prices here on Ebay. And they are worth it. But I also like JVC/RVC pressings, and a few others. I like the Denon Digital pressings because they sound nice and people don't want a lot of money for them, and also they tend to be in good condition.
Which brings me to my grading. In recent years I have become by far the strictest grader I know. If you look below, you will see that I don't have a 'Mint' rating. I believe in pessimistic grading, where anybody else looking at the LP would grade it higher than I do. So anything NM to NM+ will probably be indistinguishable from new. I have bought untold numbers of LP's off of people on ebay, only to find that they graded too highly. I almost always turn around and sell those Lps (at a loss, and with proper grading) and try to find more pristine versions. In the last year I have begun to follow other hobbies, so I have not added a lot of new vinyl.
What remains is a modest collection of nearly perfect quality LPs, with a broad range of classical and a small range of opera, any one of which is an excellent sonic experience, and will please the listener.
Please see my other auctions for other quality LP auctions.
Payment may be by paypal or Money order or Cash. Multiple auctions will save on shipping. LPs may be shipped in any way the customer wants. Cardboard packaging is extra.
If you are going to win multiple auctions please let me know your intentions by emailing me, and then please keep track of your auctions won. I will try to do so as well, but I have a family and four kids and a job and a lot of other things going on, so collating everyone's order is not the biggest priority I have right now.
Also, I ask for your patience when your winning is all done. The shipment will probably not go out the next day, because I have no doubt a lot to do to get so many shipments ready for shipping. Please bear with me on this. I promise that the quality of the LPs will be worth it.
