Here is THE numero-uno 100% ORIGINAL first release issue of the most famous progressive psych album from the UK! THE OPEN MIND self-titled first-and-only LP release. I didn't recall ever seeing this record in all my years of collecting in Britain, until I found a copy some years back on eBay. The same band also had two singles, one of which was taken from this album, and the follow-up 'Magic Potion' which was not. I have had the JULY album, and the RAINBOW FFOLLY record, and they are represent somewhat pale and frivolous (effects for the sake of them), wasteful interpretations of prog/psych compared to this - these lads meant business. Also, let's not beat around the bush when talking about the later issues out there - they are NOT well mastered and lack depth and clarity, kinda-like having a third-generation photocopy of a photograph, not very satisfactory and they don't do this music justice. They proliferate, but this, original issue, is VERY rare! This PHILIPS RECORDS SBL.7893 original release came out in 1969, and would have been shortly deleted from sale. It must have sold poorly at the time too, as it's extremely rare and sought after as a landmark of the early progressive genre. Some tracks here are drama filled, a great example is 'Thor the Thunder God'. Others have a suspended 'spooky' harmony such as on 'I Feel The Same Way Too'. You can tell that these guys meant business, with a strong guitar/bass foundation to the songs. I wonder what they may have done, if their records were a success and they had the backing for more recordings? The LP disc is in NM condition, NO scratches and only very very sparse and light 'spider-web' scuff visible under strong light. These lables are extremely clean and show very few signs of play. The laminated UK cover is VG++ due to a some 'corner bend' creases.
