Pink Floyd MEDDLE Vinyl LP 1971 First UK Issue SHVL-795A/B A4/B3
Pink Floyd began a week-long stint at Abbey Rd Studios with engineers John Lackie and Peter Bown, recording ideas for this album Meddle. In April '71 they returned to Abbey Road for a week's recoding session where sessions took place throughout that month. In July '71 they went to Morgan Sound Studios in N London to continue work on the album, including final mixes for 'Echoes'. In October the album was released in the US, a week ahead of the UK. It reached 70 in the charts. On 5 November Meddle was released in the UK and reached number 3 in the charts.
I have graded the vinyl Excellent in line with Vinyl Factory guidelines (see below) Excellent - tolerating very light marks where the vinyl has been in and out of the inner sleeve a few times, or tiny signs of use generally.
Although there are signs of the album being in and out of its sleeve, which present a certain kind of surface mark (unlike a record being handled without due care or hair lines, etc) - and under a harsh spotlight I can see clearly these topmost surface marks associated with the record and its sleeve - the vinyl test plays very well indeed with there is nothing to interrupt enjoyable listening, a clean good play, even between tracks. There is the sound of the needle on the vinyl as we move into the first track of Side 1 but by no means a crackle. This is a first UK edition and more details specific to this edition are listed below.
I have graded the sleeve Excellent/Very Good Plus, see pics. There are no stickers, scuffs of marks, but it has been handled over time. The original inner sleeve is placed within the gatefold but I have used a poly-lined cover for the album to preserve it, as the old cover is rather rough and probably creates those marks referred to.
