Pink Floyd - The Dark Side Of The Moon 1973 Harvest SHVL 804 This is the genuine first pressing of this LP that was only made in limited numbers. Plently of people have now come to realise the value and rarity of this first pressing with the Solid Blue triangle but there are in fact several differences with this and later pressings. This is what I believe you should look for in a VERY First pressing. 1. This pressing obviously has the solid blue triangle on the label. 2. "The Gramaphone Ltd...." label text runs around the top of the label, later pressings state ""Emi records Ltd". 3. "Made in Great Britain" is printed at the bottom of the label. 4. On the earliest pressings the music is credited to "World Copyrights Ltd" ,later pressings stated "Pink Floyd Music Publ." 5. On some of the writing credits the first writing credits, e.g WATERS,Gilmore, are in CAPITOLS, later pressings were in lower case. 6. The gatefold cover is open on both ends to allow the LP & Poster/Card to be placed seperately, on later pressings only one end was open. 7. The 1st pressing on the posters were thicker and of a different feel to the later pressings. 8. The 1st press postcard sized sticker was marked 'Permanent' in red at the rear on the peelable side and this peeleable section was also split by wavy lines allowing it to be peeled in parts, later issues were marked with straight brown lines, the peelable section was not split and was printed "bend on Line" "CrackBack patented" and "FastPrint". 9. The original inner sleeve was a black polylined sleeve, not a white one like on later pressings and was marked with Made In Great Britain and Patent Number. This pressing comes with all of the above and is very very rare, in fact the first I have ever come across in over ten years. With several copies appearing on ebay it gives a false message to those who do not reside in the UK, believe me this is much rarer than you could imagine. THIS LP. Matrix Numbers - Side 1 - SHVL 804 A-2 Side 2 - SHVL 804 B-2 VINYL - The vinyl looks visually VERY GOOD- with noticeable service marks and a few light scratches when held under a bright light but has a lovely sheen and plays excellently with fantastic audio. Side 2, silent run-in,very light crackle very occasionally only. Side 1 plays in a similar way with a few pops in the run-in and first few seconds of track one, a fantastic playing copy.Plays EXCELLENT. LABELS - Neither labels have any stickers or writing etc, but there are spindal marks evident on both of them and a couple of small dinks in the label. POSTER - The original 1st pressing "Blue Pyramid" poster is still present and complete without any splits, tears or writing although there is the evidence of drawing pins being used to pin to the wall at the corners, other than that minor ageing only. POSTCARD/STICKER - The original beige sticker with the red "Permanent" print at he rear peelable section as detailed above is present and unpeeled. There is minor ageing near to the front right bottom and two small wear/sticker removal type marks at the top right. COVER - The cover has seen better days and has ringwear evident on the front and back. The inside of the gatefold cover is in nice condition.The edges and spine are very worn due to the storage over the last 30+ years. There are no sticker marks/writing or tears etc. This is the original 1st issue sleeve with both ends of the gatefold opening. See the photos for full details, I have nothing to hide. INNER SLEEVE - Black lined sleeve present but a little tatty but not split etc and the lining is also intact. A decent and honestly graded copy. Good luck on bidding for this LP, without doubt one of the Rarest Floyd albums and definately the rarest version of this LP, one of the greatest albums of all time,. I use the record collector grading system when grading records with the addition of a + or - when appropriate in order to give the most accurate description possible.

All records are visually graded in normal light and under artificial light to ensure the item is correctly advertised and surface marks are not missed.

I have 15 years experience of collecting and grading records and as such do as much as possible to ensure buyers are happy with their purchase.

MINT

The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality.The cover and any extra items, such as the lyric sheet,booklet or poster are in perfect condition.

EXCELLENT

The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality.The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.

VERY GOOD

The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD

The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration etc.

FAIR

The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise: it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

POOR

The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD

The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.

NOTE - The gradings above differ from 'Goldmine' and other publications grading systems so please read before bidding.

Some of the items that I offer will be play-graded, but some will not. Therefore if the description does not state the record has been play graded then it has not been so. All play-graded descriptions will be based on how the vinyl sounds on my system.
