I'm not really sure what this record is. Nor do i have any useful information on where it came from or who made it. i have this. i listen to it. it's really really weird in every way possible. that's all you really need to know. that and the fact that listening to this in a car would probably result in your death....you should probably know that too. Pythagoron does not seem to be a band. in fact, it actually seems to be billing itself as a corporation since the record is credited to "Pythagoron Inc. 1977." i'm not really sure what that means or who Pythagoron Inc. was/is. i'm also not so sure that i want to find out. things like this are often better if they stay mysterious. i've been told that the purpose of this record was to produce the same effects as drugs, but without the use of drugs...by using only sound.... i'm not really so sure that works. i've listened to it a few times and i'm listening to it as i'm writing this and i don't feel high. i do feel slightly disoriented and have lost track of how long i've been listening to this damn album for though. i guess in the 70s this might have seemed equivalent to being high, back when listening to the Grateful Dead was considered mind expanding and Acid Mothers Temple didn't exist yet. people in the 70s probably thought you could get high from listening to Tangerine Dream too. that doesn't make it bad, it just means there's a difference between listening to electronic drone and doing drugs. i prefer drone anyway.basically there's nothing really new about this album. if you've heard Tangerine Dream, Cluster, Earth 2, or Brian Eno's really monotonous ambient albums you know basically what you're getting into, lot's of pulsating electronics and repetition, plus some weird alternating tones. it functions pretty well as a straight drone album though, and that might make it the first one (i'm way too zoned out to figure out when all the other possibilities came out or whether or not this or any of the others even count as drone so we'll just leave it as a maybe...that just means its a good LP though). overall it's an interesting historical document and a pretty good listen.
