Description

PRINCE BUSTER She Was A Rough Rider UK BLUEBEAT FIRST 1968 Blue Beat Ska Roots

Prince Buster, She Was A Rough Rider.

Original 1968 UK pressed Blue Beat LP, BBLP 820.

Not a mint issue, but generally in far cleaner condition than is the norm for an LP of this nature.

There are some spider trail marks visible around the spindle areas, but not to an excessive degree and the labels still have a clean and bright unmarked appearance.

The playing surfaces still have a high gloss. The surfaces display a fair few light hairline scuffs, some gentle hairline scratches and some larger and more visible scuff marks. These are isolated marks on an otherwise clean surface however. The vinyl does not display a fine network of light marks and is not dulled or greyed from excessive usage. There are no really heavy or deep marks. Visually therefore grades a fairly solid top end G.

Playback is better than the surfaces suggest. The recorded sound is still crisp, bright and punchy. There is occasional crackle and some soft ticks are audible. These are nearly always at a level well behind the music however, and there are no loud or continuous ticks or scuffs. Around the second and third tracks of side two some slightly more intrusive crackle and light ticks are heard, but not to the point of being overly annoying or distracting. There is not continuous background noise throughout the LP and there are many quieter areas. An overall playback grade of strict VG therefore, with the second and third tracks of side two slipping into a G grade.

NOTE that an area of darkness to the vinyl in the photo is merely a reflection of overhanging foliage.

Sleeve top end VG and not all that far from EX. No major flaws, still with a good sheen and with unworn and unfrayed edges and spine. No pen marks or stains. Just a touch of removed sticker residue to top right of front panel, probably easily removable if desired. A touch of corner and ringwear creasing and one or two minor pinch line creases leading in from spine areas. Tips just very gently whitened but not worn or rounded. Entry side still acceptably crisp and not feathered.
