Item Description

Hobo Rocket, the fifth album from POND. Born in Western Australia under a mulberry tree, by Joseph Ryan, Nick Allbrook (Tame Impala) and Jay Watson (Tame Impala), the trio have already achieved steady success with their first three LP's, followed by their debut album under Modular Records Beard Wives Denim last year. Now comes their brand new album Hobo Rocket' set to further grow their already dedicated and loyal fanbase.

The album crams loose, cretaceous-era space-rock jams into a very typical Pond-esque compilation of sounds, with a new edge. The album is brief and dark, capturing the live intensity the band cultivated during their tour across a large swath of the world with their label debut. "This album is supposed to represent that thrill that I get watching Youtubes from [the Beard Wives Denim] era," says Watson. "That thrill that we never had on record. This was our attempt to make it tuneful, not just yelling and throwing each other around." POND fanatics will see Hobo Rocket cast a shadow across their standard tunes, bottling the confrontational energy of their live shows, tightening up their arrangements and spitting them back as compact whirlwinds of sound, finding, as Allbrook calls it, their "own little place in music."

With the success of the first single Giant Tortoise', noted by Stereogum as a track of psych terrain', and the second sonic onslaught Xanman', this 40 minute diverse play is a fun, conflicted, sometimes sweetly sad, raucous love letter to a genre with no shortage of awesomely weird moments.
