PLEASE PLEASE ME & ASK ME WHY
VEE JAY # 498
John Lennon & Paul McCartney
2/20/63, OSC, 63-2967 & 63-2968
Label Spizer (Colorband & Oval)
The Online Auction House is proud to offer for auction one of the Rarest Beatles records on the collector market. Many millions of Beatles records have been sold over the years but this one has a unique label and interesting background.
Approximately February 20th of 1963 Vee Jay Records released the first record in the United States bearing the name of a newly formed British vocal group named the Beatles. In the rush to get music of this up-and-coming group to the marketplace it seems that not only didn't they have a clue as to where this meager beginning would take this group that was taking Great Britan by storm, but they didn't realize that Beatles is spelled with one "t" not two as the record label shows. The group's name was miss-spelled as "Beattles" on both sides of VJ 498.
There were variations of the label which included oval, brackets and the double "T" or one "T" in the Beatles name.
This label includes the "TT", oval Vee Jay label, colorband, "#" precedes the record number, the words "Time" & "Vocal" both in uppercase.
This record is in good+ condition, the label shows some wear of the colorband and there is a about a 3/8" scratch on the "Please Please Me" side. There is no original sleeve.
WE HAVE PRESENTED THIS ITEM AS HONESTLY AS POSSIBLE. PLEASE ASK QUESTIONS PRIOR TO BIDDING. DUE TO THE POSSIBILITY OF DAMAGE, MAKING THE RECORD IMPOSSIBLE TO RE-SELL, WE HAVE SET THIS AUCTION AS A "NO RETURN AUCTION". Please check our feedback and you will see we do our very best to assure you receive what you bid on.
