PLACEBO: Ball of eyes LP
Original 1971 LP from HOLLAND on:
CBS Records#S 64625
Tracks: Inner city blues / Planes / You got me hummin' / Humpty dumpty b/w Aria / Showbiz suite / Ball of eyes / Oh la la
I've been lucky enough to find another copy of the first and rarest LP from this cult Belgian funk super-group fronted by Marc Moulin, combining his jazz background with influences ranging from the electric Miles DAVIS, Herbie HANCOCK, etc... to funk and soul music.
Awash with samples, grooves & killer funky club tunes. Placebo’s records have always been extremely difficult to turn up, even in their native country, Belgium. Now, after the worldwide interest in the group that was fostered by the 90's UK compilation, they are nigh-on impossible to find.
Original '71 Belgian copy, NOT the cheap reissue.
See my other Soul / Funk / Jazz Fusion rarities, please.
Listen to the audio clips below (Right Click, then 'Save target as' to download or simply click on link):
Planes
Aria
Humpty dumpty
Showbiz suite
Audio is taken directly from vinyl, recorded in 56 kbps only in order to reduce download times. This means the sound might be a bit dull. The record sounds much clearer!
Condition (Cover graded first, record second):
VG/VG
Record Grading System:
M: (Mint=as new, unplayed)
EX: (Excellent=near a perfect copy, played only a few times)
VG: (Very Good=The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratches, nothing really serious.
G: (Good=played a lot, surface noises in the quieter moments, no jumps, skips, hisses, etc.. Still a good copy for djing)
Picture Sleeve Grading System:
M: (Mint=as new)
EX: (Excellent=has no creases, folds, seam splits or any other noticeable similar defect).
VG (Very good=will have some slight wear, lightly turn-up corners, decent writing on or a slight seam-split).
G: (Good=may have heavy writing on, seam splits, tape, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object).
F: (Fair=the cover barely keeps the record inside it).
I list records both in U.K. pounds and in U.S. dollars, sometimes in Euros. This shouldn't stop anyone to place a bid, I mean you're welcome to combine purchases whatever the currency is!
