The above shows very first pressing of this very famous album

Album graded nr mint and excellent+/nr Mint(sleeve then vinyl)A fantastic album for all rock collectors worldwide. Please do not miss this awesome copy which has been very carefully stored for the past 33 years!!

Bought from new and am reluctantly parting with one of my very best albums.

Sleeve

Morgan album cover design by Pink Floyd. Inner sleeve photo by Hipgnosis. This textured sleeve was notorious for heavy wear and tear and many went to rack and ruin. They were extremely fragile and most if not all of these sleeves never escaped  damage. This album sleeve , I am proud to say, is almost perfect except for the slightest of wear beginning to show on its lower edge. Also, all corners are starting to show their grey tips. Spine is square and solid with a clear title visible. Beautifully decorated album cover with colours ranging from blue/green pastels to orangey brown shades. Artistic talents reign supreme here showing a magnified ear and the front and back covers are perfect. Gatefold opens nice and sharp to reveal perfect black and white photograph of all four members of the group. There is no fading or discolouration of any kind. Will not find a better textured album sleeve from the early 70’s in this nr perfect condition.

Labels

A lovely example of the infamous Harvest yellow /green label. Clean and crisp, showing very slight spindle hairlines if angled towards the light. Beautiful collector’s labels on offer here, giving a great example of an early Harvest press i.e. The Gramophone Co Ltd is printed in the upper case, and is close to the vinyl edge. EMI logo pronounced and unfaded . Nr perfect.

Vinyl

Housed in original inner sleeve with other Harvest advertisements pictured on both sides. Nice untorn condition. Adds sheer authenticity to this item. Great  for collectors .

Very early thick pressing. That wonderful heavyweight feel and  jet black with a mirror like sheen. A stunning example of a very early press, showing little signs of depreciation. If held under very strong light and if record is tilted 45 degrees, you may well pick up a few hairlines and a 2mm scratch on one side. Though really insignificant here as the overall appearance is quite stunning.

Audio

Probably the best Pink Floyd album ever made. The famous intro with the hushed gusts of wind  are incredibly clear on this album and the audio channels have been preserved very well. Really need a perfect vinyl to appreciate the very soft tones of Floyd’s music as they have such a wide range of instrumentation and pitch varies with each sound they are trying to achieve. There is very occasionally, the murmur of a slight crackle or a minimal background noise but generally even in the quieter interludes, the channels retain their magnificent clarity and the tones are heard free from any distortion or interference. There did seem to be a 5 secs pop at the beg of the final track on side 1, but was pretty much taken over by the howling of the dog who was pretty superb. I am not sure how they made him howl but certainly comes through clearly on the audio tracking!!

Side 2

Again requires maximum clarity and crystal clear channels on the opening parts of Echoes. Most vinyls would crackle to death here and kill any momentum trying to be achieved as there is always a quiet build up of Floyd’s music. These channels do allow no distortion and even through  the very quiet parts, the near silent grooves of the vinyl remain crystal and play near perfect save for the very occasional background noise.

Rarity

I suppose the odd one keeps cropping up but this album must be one of the very best, portraying exceptional audio, stunning vinyl and nr mint sleeve. Will be hard pressed to find a better copy than this.

Summary

The audio is of paramount importance in this album .The keyboard’s strange and eerie notes pierce through the channels with crystal clarity and with minimal background noise. Visually,an absolutely awesome vinyl, almost  perfect in appearance, with near silent grooves between tracks. Penetrating sounds, disturbing and yet fascinating, echoing from speaker to speaker allow you to become mesmerised by the sheer genius of Floyd .

Overall a superb copy of a magnificent album. I doubt if you will ever find a better copy than this one. So please don’t let this one pass you by.
