Description

PIERRE HENRY

Variations for a door and a sigh LP

  • Limited Edition
  • Label              :Limelight 86059 / USA
  • Condition        :vg / vg- (cover/vinyl)
  • gatefold + special cover

An instant classic and definetely the record, which together with Mess for a present time, made Pierre Henry a well known composer and gave him a cult status(have a look at my other auctions for more Musique Concrete stuff)!!
American pressing on Limelight from the 60's, composition realized in 1963, in which a squeaking door, a sigh and a musical saw are the only sound sources, mixed up, treated and manipulated to the most extreme limites, creating a "futuristic symphony", if one is permitted to say so. Pierre Henry was together with Pierre Schaeffer THE pioneer of Musique Concrete and electronic manipulation...without them, i'm not sure where electronic music would be today, definetely more poor and less developed.
A MUST have record for every electronic-experimental music collection or for a DJ, coming in a beautiful gatefold cover.  Reminds some of the best moments of Parmegiani, Stockhausen, Lejeune, Xenakis.
Very good-(some scratches, which mostly do not affect playing, except on silent passages, although the music is quite "noisy" by itself) condition for vinyl, very good condition for cover(this is a 60's pressing!). A must have album for fans of  electronic, experimental, sound installations, broken music, art records, Malec, Detoni, Stockhausen, Miereanu, Reibel, Lejeune, Lasry-Baschet, Bertoia, Panhuysen, Hermann Nitsch, Nam June Paik, LaMonte Young, Terry Riley, Yoshi Wada, Charlemagne Palestine, Ellen Fullman, Cristina Kubisch, Fluxus, Joseph Beuys Nurse with wound, Tony Conrad, Leif Ellgrenn, Hausswolff, Shandar, Trevor Wishart, Parmegiani!!! So, grab this now!!!
