This is one of the rarest and hardest-to-find items in Phil Spector's catalog, already overloaded to bursting point with rarities, misprints and curiosities of all kinds. What I have here is the original American version of the album (British 70s reissues are fairly common). Needless to say, the album, issued in 1963, has been unavailable in any way, manner or form in more than four decades, apparently waiting for uncle Phil to finally give up and permit ABKCO or some other label to reissue the album in a decent form. Well, shoot me if you will (NO, NOT YOU, PHIL), but, in my view, the gentle combination of early 60's pop and light touches of R&B, gospel and folk here and there (two girls singing with Bob B. Soxx have beautiful and very soulful voices) aged with infinite grace. The wall of sound - a production method patented by Phil Spector, which involved – among other things - torturing artists for maximum effect (just ask Tina Turner whose bra fell apart during the recording of "River Deep, Mountain High") does not get any more vivid or palpable than here. This is a proverbial fortress of sound, consisting of multitude of overlapping layers of voices, sound effects, cascades of rhythm and ornamentation. A joyful, luscious, retrogressive, a*al-retentive, listening experience, in original BACK-TO-MONO format. Phil Spector is king!!! Track listing: Not too young to get married - Why do lovers break each others' hearts - Let the good times roll - My heart beat a little faster - Baby (I love you) - Zip-a-dee-doo-dah - The white cliffs of Dover - This land is your land - Dear (hear comes my baby) - I shook the world - Everything's gonna be alright

· CONDITION:
· RECORD
(IMPORTANT NOTE: unless otherwise noted, ALL records are graded visually, and NOT play-graded!; we grade records under the strong, diffuse room light or discrete sunlight)
(a) WE GRADE THE VINYL AS STRONG VG++, just a notch below NEAR MINT. A few light abrasions (probably just sleeve scuffs inflicted in storage over the years) ARE VISIBLE, but they appear fairly insignificant relative to the overall condition of the vinyl, and are only moderately visually distracting. For most part, the vinyl looks impeccable, without any MAJOR visual flaws or imperfections. Much of the original luster is intact, and the vinyl shines and sparkles almost like new.
(b) The record has a "deep groove" (an indent in the label about 1/2-inch from the edge of the label, which on SOME labels is associated with very early or first pressings).
(c) The record is pressed on a beautiful, thick, inflexible vinyl, which was usually used for the first or very early pressings. Usually, the sound on such thick vinyl pressings is full-bodied, vivid, and even dramatic. Do not expect to obtain such a majestic analog sound from a digital recording!
(d) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
(e) Stereo copies of this album are NOT known to exist.
(f) Of course, this is a full-bodied ANALOG recording, and not an inferior, digital recording!!!
· COVER
THE COVER IS ABOUT VERY GOOD+ (VG+)
The following flaws or imperfections are noted on the cover:
- Cover has partially split top and bottom seams; These two split seams were delicately taped by the previous owner with a piece of transparent scotch tape (one on each seam)
- Cover has some fraying/wear along the upper seam (this affects only the paper slick on back panel)
- Cover has a minor 'bump' (dent) along the upper seam (VISIBLE ON BACK SIDE ONLY)
- Back cover has a small peel-off mark, probably from the careless removal of the price sticker (less than ¼ square inch in size).
- Cover shows some light yellowing on both sides, apparently from aging.
- Cover has some ring wear. On the scale from 1 to 10 (1 being the least, and 10 being the most severe), we assess the severity of ring wear as 5.
- Cover has circular tarnish (grayish, dust-covered sections, which closely follow the contour of the record), probably caused by friction or by rubbing against other covers during the storage. The tarnish is similar in appearance to a common ring wear, but, UNLIKE ring wear, these grayish areas may be possible to clean up with a minor effort and with a right cleansing solution.
- Tiny drop of paint (less than 1/32nd square inch in size) noted on front cover
- Minor shelf wear noted on the seams (nothing significant)
- Back cover has a small, rectangular, sticker residue (small yellowish discoloration from the removed price sticker)
- Cover has a small quality control (inspection) stamp on the back panel
- Cover has two corners slightly worn / frayed / bent (nothing significant)
NO OTHER IMPERFECTIONS ON THE COVER:
- No cut-out (drill) holes.
- No cut-out corners
- No saw-marks or indents
- No wrinkles or creases
- No writing
- No mold or mildew spots
- No stickers or labels
- No water damage
- No razor marks, scratches, pressure marks, lines, streaks, or cuts.
- No warping
- No wax, glue, paint or liquid drops on the cover
- No bar codes
- No RIAA stamps or stickers.
