PETER KELLEY
- PATH OF THE WAVE -
BEAUTIFUL VINYL 1ST PRESSING
SUPERB 12" 1969 VINYL COPY OF THIS CLASSIC ALBUM
1969 LONDON RECORDS ( UK ) SH-K.8402
VINYL IN NR MINT CONDITION
LAMINATED SLEEVE IN VERY GOOD + CONDITION
LABELS IN EXCELLENT CONDITION
East Coast singer-songwriter Peter Kelley made two superb albums, of which this is the first. An atmospheric blend of bluesy downer folk and psychedelia, it features eerie vocals and deft touches of violin and fuzz guitar. Songs range from Dylanesque ballads to the monster cut The Man Is Dead with fuzz guitar. Most of the cuts feature sparse instrumentation (often just an acoustic guitar is featured) and singing that owes a lot to Dylan's style of vocal delivery (and perhaps something to psychoactive substances as well). The Man Is Dead may be the best cut, but the whole album is worth a listen. Released in 1969, its sure to appeal to fans of artists such as Sandy Bull, Michael Hurley and Gary Higgins.
This is a super copy of a very rare album. The laminated sleeve has a few signs of storage wear here and there, but the spine is strong and it has no major defects - I would rate it as VERY GOOD+. The vinyl is in superb condition and has a lustre that belies its 40+ years. The music is very subtle and thankfully none of its acoustic majesty is lost in a sea of pops and crackles - it plays with very little surface noise. Using the respected RRPG as a reference I would rate the vinyl as being NR MINT. The labels are in tip top condition and it comes complete with its original BLUE poly lined inner. This is a Decca pressing, so needless to say that sonically it beats recent CD re-issues hands down!!

RECORD GRADING GUIDE
"MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler."
As well as the above grades, Near Mint is often used as well; this is really for a record that appears new but is known to have been played because the label has light spindle marks or because it has come from a previous owner and is assumed to have been played by them. For records which appear to fall between the accepted grades, + and - are also often added to the grading.
