Peter Gabriel has written the music for the film "The Last Temptation Of Christ" by Martin Scorsese and recorded in his Real World Studios. "Passion", which was recorded purely instrumentally, is a musical journey around the world that leads to Africa and Asia, ie does not limit itself to a religious space. For this open presentation of world music with strong and diverse emotions Gabriel got a Grammy, even if he can not reap the laurels for this brilliant implementation alone. Because the participating first-class musicians played a significant role in the success of this production: Hossam Ramzy, Shankar, Youssou N'Dour, Billy Cobham, Manu Katch ?, Jon Hassel and Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan as well as many others! But also the editing of the original bands provides real enthusiasm here, deep bass and resolution seem to encounter this album to its feasibility limits! The famous soundtrack album on vinyl
"Passion" is the eighth solo album by Gabriel and also the second soundtrack of the former Genesis singer. He was put together for the movie "The Last Temptation Of Christ" by Martin Scorsese. However, Peter Gabriel continued to work on the music after the premiere, resulting in a whole album that appeared on June 9, 1989.
Passion won a Grammy for Best New Age Album. In addition to Gabriel, several musicians participated in the album, including David Rhodes, Baaba Maal, L. Shankar, Doudou N'Diaye Rose, David Sancious and many more.
