Awesome Rare Thick & Chunky Quality-Pressed UK Mono 'Experiment in Metaphysics' by Perry Leopold!!! Amazing Lost Folk/Acid Psych Masterpiece - Impossible To Find and an Absolutely Essential Record For Any Serious Psych/Folk Collection!!!

Firstly let me just say that this is, in my opinion one of the greatest lost folk/psych albums of all time. I still don't get why so few people have ever heard of Perry Leopold, this is one LP that is long due re-discovery, simply because is is just so damn good (unlike a lot of rare folk records!) So just how cool was Perry Leopold? Well, he only ever got round to recording 2 albums. He spent most of his time living on the streets of Philadelphia, New York, and Boston, crashing in the apartments and barns of friends and busking on street corners by day to any passing soul who would listen, and in small coffeehouses at night. In June 1970, he recorded this seminal masterpiece; Experiment in Metaphysics, which was only printed in a single run of 300 copies. Of three hundred copies you'd think some would still be around right? Well the thing was that Perry gave almost all of these 300 away for free one afternoon in August 1970 on a Philadelphia street corner! I told you this guy was cool. Experiment in Metaphysics has thus become one of the most sought-after psych/folk records of all time.

Because of Experiment in Metaphysics scarcity and the fact that it is absolutely fantastic, even poor quality bootleg copies have sold for over $300. Still, original copies have surfaced as far away as Hong Kong and Singapore. However, before you get all over-exited, this is not that 1st pressing. What it is, is the hugely rare mid 1990's UK re-release, itself only pressed in absolutely tiny amounts on thick & chunky vinyl! The masters were used for this one and it is the only pressing out there that sounds anything like the original. Do not bother with any of the other inferior repressings or bootlegs (if you can find any!) they are all very poor quality and not worth the large prices they command. This is the absolute best pressing of Experiment in Metaphysics and stands shoulder to shoulder with the elusive original. So if you haven’t got a spare £2,000+++ then you should seriously go for this record.

So what does it sound like? Drawing on all of his influences, the album is a supremely accomplished and unique piece of progressive acid psych/folk with political and religious overtones. Despite this, the record has a beautiful almost innocent vulnerability about it, very similar to our own Nick Drake; if you love Nick then you’ll equally love Perry!

Condition - the condition of this amazing record is stone-cold Mint-Mint-!!! As simple as that - it is pristine in every respect, I snapped up two copies of this record years ago and this is my keepers copy. You will not find a better example, in fact you will probably not find another example full stop. It comes complete with its insert, a kind of collage of gig reviews and photos etc. Seriously don't miss this one, it is from my own keepers collection and gets my highest recommendation - in fact I'll offer a full refund to anyone who doesn't like this record!!!

However, there will always be somebody out there whose expectations far exceed UK record collector grading standards.  If you are in anyway unsatisfied with your record or our grading of it please refer to the UK Record Collector Grading Chart very carefully BEFORE emailing us. We strictly adhere to it and will only offer refunds (minus the postage AND our eBay costs) if we are satisfied that we have fallen below UK record collector grading standards. Buyers who continually Haggle, Whine and Moan to try to decrease the price they won their auctions for will be blocked from bidding on future auctions and can toodle off down to HMV or Virgin where they can harass the counter staff there.

We will always leave feedback upon receipt of feedback. In an ideal world we would like to leave feedback as soon as the record has been shipped but due to feedback blackmail in the past (i,e, ",,,I want a partial refund or I will leave negative feedback") we have opted to take this measure. Contact must be made within 3 days of winning the auction. If payment has not been received after 10 days a non paying bidder alert will be placed.
