Although their female vocalist softened their edges slightly . Saying that song like Dream Deltaland and Autumn Leaves are pretty damn' prog. Although they never really escape their hard rock background.
Much of the album's keyboard work is exceptional which shows in five out of six tracks. Dream Deltaland has some background strings from Uli Frank earlier in the song which become some seriously grandiose choirs towards the end, Although they never quite hit those heights again there are plenty of mellotron strings on Fire And Rain Songs and No Touch Of Illusions. Then more choir on Autumn Leaves and I Try. A solid album for any prog / hard rock lover The group from Winnenden near Stuttgart started Nyrvana Pancake and released a very good psychedelic 7" single in 1973. In 1974, they shortened their band name into Pancake, and instead of psychedelia they now played symphonic rock. The first Pancake LP, "Roxy elephant", was released in 1975, and the second one, "Out of the ashes", appeared in 1977. The band later veered away from their symphonic style as the people lost interest in this kind of music at the time. Their third and last LP, "No illusions" was a hard rock / prog rock which was by far their best release.
