Pallbearer wasted little time establishing themselves as world-class purveyors of old-fashioned doom metal, taking the classic stylings and decidedly epic strains of Trouble, Candlemass, Saint Vitus and early Cathedral and reinventing them for a new era, with character, songwriting skill and weighty gravitas to spare. Foundations Of Burden is their second album and it may prove to be the point at which this Little Rock, Arkansas-birthed quartet stop merely being merely contenders for greatness and join the ranks of the legendary. The album is positively overloaded with atmospheric intensity and melodious grace, and brandishes a sound simultaneously reverential and ground-breaking.
