Here is an extremely well preserved specimen of the famous 1971 Worldwide Charity Relief Pop/Rock Concert conceived, produced, and assembled by George Harrison, "The Concert for Bangladesh". Phil Spector co-produced the album. This is an Original Three LP Record Boxed Set. This album is in NEAR MINT CONDITION. The LP's themselves appear to have never been played on a turntable. The box, magazine-like program insert and the paper album sleeves are all in NM condition also, with the very modest and non-damaging blemishes mentioned in the Condition Section (I did not play the albums for fear of them losing their possible "virginity", but they were inspected). Everything is super-clean and nice. The records are standard 33 1/3 speed. This album came out of an old estate this very week; I am only its second owner. The Concert for Bangladesh was the first rock concert put-on solely to raise money, primarily, and awareness, secondarily, for the benefit of large scale human suffering and dire living conditions. Many have followed since, such as Farm Aid. This first such concert showcased early 1970's rock & roll at its finest, especially since superstar Beatle, George Harrison conceived it, organized it, performed at the concert, and most importantly, was truly dedicated to the plight of the people in Bangladesh, the former East Pakistan; now hardly remembered by the media, or us. Other great musicians that performed at the August 1, 1971 concert were Eric Clapton, Ravi Shankar, Bob Dylan, Ringo Starr, Billy Preston, Leon Russell -- just to name the superstars, who were already superstars in 1971. The insert program is really nice. The concert netted $243,418.50 for the United Nations Children's Relief Fund (UNICEF) for the relief of Bangladeshi refugee children (a copy of the check is printed on the back of the program; see Photo 9). That money today is worth $1,446,597.00! Putting aside the social issue, this album set is very hard to find today, especially complete and in this condition. Not that many were released.
