It is always difficult to accurately evaluate exactly what effect any change in your system has created, especially when auditioning different gear, different cables. The Opus Test Records are excellent "metrics" for analysis when combined with notes you have made about the prior setup.
In essence, an inexpensive way to hang on to sanity!
Test Record 2 is primarily concerned with timbre and ambiance, but even here we touch upon depth of the stereophonic image, the dynamic range, etc.”
Each selection was chosen to demonstrate specific aspects of timbre as high lighted by various unique aspects within each recording.
