Description
This is a very rare original album by the Alan Skidmore Quintet: on the shortlived Deram Nova label.("Decca" Nova on label)(catalogue number SDN 11)It was released in 1969 and still includes the 28 shillings and sixpence price tag on the sleeve. The condition of both the sleeve and record is excellent. This is a highly rare and collectable album and has a Record Collector rare record guide price of £140. (I have never seen another copy) The vinyl plays superbly and the album is very enjoyable.(The inner sleeve is the correct blue decca item) The full line up includes Alan Skidmore (tenor sax), Kenny Wheeler (flugelhorn), John Taylor (piano), Harry Miller (bass) and Tony Oxley (drums) and some compositions were written by John Surman. This period in British jazz is very exciting and I recently played the album one evening to some friends who were equally impressed. The vinyl looks in excellent condition and there are three small marks on side 2, which DO NOT AFFECT THE SOUND QUALITY.
