Here comes real Special for all Scratch Collectors! This is the Original Jamaican Issue of JUNIOR MURVIN Police and Thieves LP on the Upsetters Label from 1977.
Now that I'am collecting Reggae Records for 19 years, this is the second sight I ever see this record, even many don't know that it was released in that form ?!
Perhaps will some longtime ebayers remember: Carlo from IRIE RECORDS ( fromGermany,too) auctioned another copy of this ultra rare LP ca. 2 years ago.Think a japanese was the happy winner ;-)
At that time I compare it with my copy (had it now for ca. 4 years and found it on a record fair) and it has the same matrix :
Side A: TS 3885A
Side B: TS 3885 B
seems not to be a Total Sounds number (TSL), any idea about that ?
and the same typical writing errors:
" Police and theives"
"recorded at Black Arts"
"Kingdton Jamaica"
difference to my copy: Top left on the front cover is a
"Beverleys" sticker.
the cover seems to be the original english ISLAND issue (printed in England by Robor Limited)
CONDITION: As you can see , both LABELS are in perfect shape !!
THE COVER is very good+, has a few stains on the back.
THE RECORD : Due to the pressing quality, -little bubbles, it is a bit hissy-, on Start of Side One are a few cliks - its varying beetween vg+ and ex-
Less signs of use,little surface scratches,not affected playing-must be played not so often !!! (I heard it only 2-3 times)
Now I remember according to Carlo's availiable sound clips at that time, some reaction was that the mixing is a little bit slower than of the other issues on Mango or Island, not quite shure about that...
Finally, if you got any question.... do it ! I will do my best to satisfy all crazy Perry fanatics ina dis ya land. (and I am One, too!!!!)
