ORIGINAL RHYTHM & BLUES HITS EP EMBER EP 4522 rare 1962
On offer is the Ray Charles / Jimmy McCracklin / Jesse Belvin / Linda Hayes / Johnny Moore and the Blazers 45rpm EP entitled ORIGINAL RHYTHM & BLUES HITS as released on EMBER EP 4522 in 1962.
Tracks are: It’s alright - Jimmy McCracklin / Alone in the city - Ray Charles / Love song - Jesse Belvin / Take me back - Linda Hayes / Johnny’s last letter - Johnny Moore and the Blazers / Rocking chair blues - Ray Charles.
The EP picture sleeve – with a picture of Ray Charles on the front - is in VG+ condition: see scans.
The record labels look great having have no marks on them at all. The vinyl is in VG condition.
This rare EP played well with some background surface noise and occasional crackle on some tracks when I test played it on my BOSE record player. Ray Charles’ Alone in the city for example has some audible clicks – yet by contrast Jessie Belvin’s Love song plays beautifully. It’s a decent example of this EP to have until that elusive better copy comes along.

I use the RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM: as follows
MINT (M) THE RECORD ITSELF IS IN BRAND NEW CONDITION WITH NO SURFACE MARKS OR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND ANY EXTRA ITEMS SUCH AS THE LYRIC SHEET, BOOKLET OR POSTER ARE IN PERFECT CONDITION. RECORDS ADVERTISED AS SEALED OR UNPLAYED SHOULD BE MINT.
EXCELLENT (EX) THE RECORD SHOWS SOME SIGNS OF HAVING BEEN PLAYED, BUT THERE IS VERY LITTLE LESSENING IN SOUND QUALITY. THE COVER AND PACKAGING MIGHT HAVE SLIGHT WEAR AND/OR CREASING.
VERY GOOD (VG) THE RECORD HAS OBVIOUSLY BEEN PLAYED MANY TIMES, BUT DISPLAYS NO MAJOR DETERIORATION IN SOUND QUALITY, DESPITE NOTICEABLE SURFACE MARKS AND THE OCCASIONAL LIGHT SCRATCH. NORMAL WEAR AND TEAR ON THE COVER OR EXTRA ITEMS, WITHOUT ANY MAJOR DEFECTS, IS ACCEPTABLE.
GOOD (G) THE RECORD HAS BEEN PLAYED SO MUCH THAT THE SOUND QUALITY HAS NOTICEABLY DETERIORATED, PERHAPS WITH SOME DISTORTION AND MILD SCRATCHES. THE COVER AND CONTENTS SUFFER FROM FOLDING, SCUFFING OF EDGES, SPINE SPLITS, DISCOLOURATION, ETC.
THE USE OF PLUS (+) OR MINUS (-) ALLOWS FOR ITEMS THAT FALL BETWEEN THE ABOVE GRADES.
