Background and Introduction:

Wow! Here it is!! An original Dutch pressing of The Outsiders’ masterpiece concept album entitled, CQ (Polydor Special 236 803). If you are viewing this auction, you probably already know that original pressings of CQ are VERY VERY RARE. Sadly, it has been estimated that Wally Tax and the boys only sold approximately 5,000 copies of this album at the time of its original issue.

What a damn shame!! This is a classic album. A true masterpiece and a must-have LP of the first order. There are still some undiscovered classic albums out there, and CQ is one of the best. Like most big-ticket record collectors, I have spent hundreds, even thousands of dollars on rare albums only to be disappointed by the music. I promise, The Outsiders will not disappoint you. From Ronnie Splinter's blistering lead guitar to Buzz's pounding drums to Frank Beek's innovative bass playing (check out "Zsarrahh") and Wally Tax's acid drenched, rip your heart out vocals, The Outsiders were on another level compared to the average '60's beat groups. If you like The Pretty Things, Pink Floyd, The Beatles, Jimi Hendrix, The Blossom Toes and The Creation you will certainly fall in love with this classic album. Even the cover artwork was innovative. Here we do not have the typical run of the mill pictures of a good-looking band on the front cover. The Outsiders had the artist Van Der Gulik design the unique outside cover. And on the inside of the gatefold cover, you get four large photos of each of the band members with tape reels coming out of their foreheads.

Record Description:

As with all 1st pressings of CQ, the matrix code is machine-stamped in the trail-off vinyl. As mentioned above, the album has a beautiful gatefold cover which features some stunning pictures of the band members.

On a grading scale of M-, EX, VG+, VG, G and P, the condition of the album is as follows:

Vinyl: VG+ (there are small light surface scratches but the disc plays nice; there are absolutely no skips, jumps or repeats).

Cover: VG+ (the gatefold cover is in fine shape. There are absolutely no tears, ink or seam splits; this cover would look very nice hanging on a wall in a record frame).

***As an added bonus and as a part of this auction, I am also including a reissue (counterfeit?) of CQ. This particular copy is an exact replica of the original LP (except the matrix code is hand-etched as opposed to being machine-stamped). It has a gatefold cover and it is in pristine M- condition. Note: I have seen some of these sell for almost as much as the originals! Just check www.popsike.com. These counterfeits are easily distinguished by the hand-etched matrix codes, and they also feature a poor dark color copy of the original front cover.***

CQ is one of the great, long-lost masterpieces of the trippy, psychedelic '60's. This is your chance to get a great deal on one of the finest concept albums ever recorded.
