Originally released in 1985 and reissued a couple of times since, Onslaught's debut album Power from Hell mines territory similar to that of early Slayer, making these Britishers one of the first bands to begin refining that sound into what would become death metal. Still, this is early material, and it isn't as well executed as other death prototypes, although those fascinated with the genre's roots will want to have a listen. ~ Steve Huey (CD Universe)

Originally released in 1985, this debut from UK death/thrashers Onslaught is their darkest, dirtiest, most simplistic work. A chilling atmosphere pervades throughout, yet the song variety goes from ultra-dark traditional metal like "Steel Meets Steel" to proto-grindcore attacks like the amazing "Thermonuclear Devastation". And of course, there's the best anthem to ever come from a UK black/death/thrash band, the utterly classic title track.
