Nurse With Wound - Insect and Individual Silenced LP (United Dairies, UD 08, 1981)

Did you know that there was a special edition of this LP? Probably not, since it is not listed in any NWW discography that I've seen.

Letäs start with the basics. This copy comes in the usual Insect LP sleeve, and the sleeve is in very strong NM shape. Would actually be MINT if it weren't for minimal stress marks that shows an LP has been stored inside! Yes, that's how great it looks. NO marks, NO bends, EXTREMELY sharp corners, perfect lustre, etc! Comes with the original insert (and not all copies have the insert, trust me, I've owned a few different copies of this baby!). And last but not least, the vinyl is MINT. Yes, not a spindle mark on the labels -- this one looks PERFECT!

Now for the interesting part -- the collage that comes with this copy! The size of the collage is approx 12"x12". The artwork is by Steven Stapleton, and is signed "STEVE 1981." on the lower right hand corner. Very, very intricate, and much more interesting than ANY of the handmade sleeves I have seen for other NWW releases. Painstakingly put together, this must have taken a few hours for Stapleton to produce. The collage is numbered on the front -- "7/10".
This copy was originally sent as a gift to the editor of the British music mag OUTLET. Stapleton has written an accompanying note on the back of the collage -- "Here is an original collage, 10 were given away with the N.WW album [...]". The collage has small holes in each corner, from having been placed on a wall with ordinary thumb-tacks. Maybe this sounds like heresy to you, but I think there is a certain charm to the fact that this has been on someone's wall as decoration, rather than a pricey piece of art.
Examine the photos closely. The collage looks fantastic, and should be properly framed by anyone lucky enough to win this auction. Or, you could of course just take out a box of thumb-tacks and nail the sucker to your bedroom wall...!
