Blank side of vinyl has a lot of light scratches.  No tracks on that side so it doesn't effect play

GRADING:  Vinyl/Cover

LPs are professionally cleaned before being graded under bright lights and in almost all cases (99%) play graded using an audiophile quality record player and cartridge.   I try to listen to the entire record from start to finish.  Grading is done using Goldmine grading standards.  When there is a difference between the appearance of the record and the audio quality, both grades are given.  Photographs are taken without the outer plastic sleeve in order to highlight issues.  Covers look even better in plastic.

Each record is just like you would buy from a record store.  They come in an archival plastic outer sleeve and are professionally cleaned before listing.  They also will always have an inner sleeve.  If I ever buy a record without one, I immediately give it one.  I ship LP's outside of the cover inside the protective plastic in order to avoid damaging the vinyl or the cover during shipping. 
 

• M   Absolutely perfect in every way. Certainly never been played, possibly even still sealed.  Records can be mint and come with some sleeve rubbing (not scratching or scuffing).
   
• NM    A nearly perfect record. The record should show few to no obvious signs of wear other than sleeve rubbing. A 45 RPM or EP sleeve should have no more than the most minor defects, such as almost invisible ring wear or other signs of slight handling.  An LP cover should have no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. And of course, the same should be true of any other inserts, such as posters, lyric sleeves and the like.
   
• NM-/VG++    Both grades hit either just above VG+ or just below NM.  This means there can be signs of wear but extremely minimal.  Maybe a few light scratches but nothing that effects sound quality. 
   
• VG+    A Very Good Plus record will show signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who generally took good care of it.   Record surfaces show signs of wear and may have some scuffing, rubbing or light scratches.  There can be light surface noise in between tracks and in lighter passages.  Slight warps that do not affect the sound are "OK".   The label may have some ring wear or discoloration.  LP inner sleeves will have some wear, turned up corners, or a some seam splitting. An LP cover will have signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount.   All but the most mint-crazy collectors will find a Very Good Plus record/cover highly acceptable.
   
• VG   Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, and can include some non repetitive pops and ticks. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound.  Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of picture sleeves or LP covers.
   
• VG-   Grade hits either just above G+ or just below VG.  This means there can be significant signs of wear.  Surface noise will be more pronounced and possibly will have more pops and ticks.  Still should play through fine with no skips or repeats.
   
• G, G+    Good does not mean Bad! A record in Good or Good Plus condition can be put onto a turntable and will play through without skipping. But it will have significant surface noise and scratches and visible groove wear.  Likely will have a number of pops or ticks.  A cover or sleeve will have seam splits, especially at the bottom or on the spine. Tape, writing, ring wear or other defects will start to overwhelm the object.

Please ask any questions you might have before auctions ending. I am happy to email higher resolution images upon request. Item's are sold as is and all sales are final unless the item is significantly not as shown or described. PayPal only and payment must be received within 5 days of auction end. If payment is not received within five days I reserve the right to offer the item to the next highest bidder or relist it. And I will file a non-paying bidder report with eBay to recover my final value fees.

About Us

I have been in love with records for years and have built a collection of thousands of LP's and 45's. Very few of which are not really great music. Much of this was done while working for a couple of local record stores. I am now attempting to whittle down my collection. This is a chance for you to bid on some really great vinyl. I am confident in my ability to grade records having done so in a retail setting for more then a decade. I use the same gold mine grading system I used during that time. I think it's the simplest and clearest system out there. I professionally clean all records before grading. I try to grade based not only on appearance but actually play grade. If there is a difference in the quality of the sound and the appearance of the vinyl I give both grades. From my experience they don't always match up. I use a Pioneer PL 560 player with a Pickering cartridge and an elliptical needle to do my grading. My record player is about as high fidelity as they come and if there is a problem with the sound of a record I will know. BID WITH CONFIDENCE! How I list a record is how it really is.
