Description
This is an absolutely amazing copy of the classic NEGATIVE APPROACH 7in on Touch & Go Records from 1982. Best HC 7in of all time…yeah, I’d say so. This is a first pressing copy with black & white labels, only 1,000 copies pressed! Additionally, this is one of the rare copies that John Brannon drew on. The inside of the glued sleeve (which means it had to be drawn before the sleeve was glued together) has a punk chick that kinda looks like Cruella Deville (from 101 Dalmatians) smoking a cigarette. Beside her is a bubble that says, “Punk rock…Darling, I’ve been doing it for years.” I bought this 7in off someone from FLIPSIDE magazine and this is the original copy sent to Flipside by T&G in 1982.
Also included in this 7in are two ORIGINAL Touch & Go Records ads. The first is a full size (8.5” by 11”) ad for all the T&G releases up to that point (sex drive, vengeance, IQ32, Process comp, Jans room, Blud Sausage). The two “new releases”, as marked on the ad, are the NA 7in and the “crippled children suck” by the Meatmen, which I also have for sale. The 7in’s which were still in print at the time are $2.50 ppd in the US and $3 ppd worldwide. The advert also features info about Touch & Go’s subsidiary label, Special Forces Records, which helped to release the first single from L-Seven, whose bass player Larissa dated NA singer John Brannon.
The next ad is a smaller 5” by 6” ad for Touch & Go band shirts. The ad reads, “HEY…Don’t go to gays for your new wave attire. Get it right here from TOUCH & GO RECORDS. All shirts $6 ppd.” They are selling NA, Meatmen, & Necros shirts. Right next to the NA shirt, it says, “REAL hard wave”. Totally amazing.
Vinyl, sleeve, and lyric sheet (with amazing photos not on the reissue CDs) are all in mint condition. The vinyl plays without skips, scratches or pops. The sleeve has no bends, tears, rips or stains. There is a tiny crease at the bottom of the back of the sleeve, which I imagine came from folding the sleeve back in 1982. It’s not bad at all, I just want to be absolutely thorough in my description. I know a lot of people want to get this record and I do not want the winning bidder to be disappointed. You will not be. And it’s pretty safe to say that you will not see another one of these in such good shape with all the original inserts any time soon. BID RIGHT NOW.
