Description
Up for auction is a very clean original copy of the N.W.A. classic "Straight Outta Compton" originally released in the U.S. on Ruthless Records (SL-57102) in 1988.
-Guaranteed original First U.S. pressing -Silver/Gray Ruthless labels -First Pressing "1-1" etched in run-out matrix -Vinyl comes in audiophile poly-lined inner sleeve
Condition: The cover is in very nice condition, still retains its original glossy finish. No ring wear, no tears, no cut-outs. Seams are strong, intact, no splits or separations, just minor rubbing here and there. Corners are nice, not bumped, but show some minor rubbing. Back is clean, no ring wear, no writing. Has some light creases along spine. Very attractive, well preserved copy. Grade: Excellent Plus (EX+), significantly better than most VG+ copies I've seen.
The vinyl is also in nice condition, still retains lots of its original glossy shine. To the naked eye, the vinyl looks very clean, but under a strong light you can see some very faint superficial hairlines that can't be felt, nor do they affect the quality of the playback. On Side One, Track 3, there is one small needle mark that causes a very faint tick for a few rotations, but the music is so loud at that point that it's really not obvious at all, but I thought I'd mention it.
Play-Tested: The sound quality of this record is excellent, very clear and full-bodied without any appreciable distortion or significant background noise. This record appears to have been played a handful of times, but very well cared for and nicely preserved. Never man-handled, and definitely not formerly owned by a DJ. Most of these originals have been thrashed as you are probably well-aware. Even the "better" copies are significantly scratched. This is the nicest original copy I've ever come across, and it's been in my personal collection for 20 years, played only a couple times on a high-end turntable. A very nice copy--not perfect, but still very collectable and desirable. Grade: Excellent (EX), much nicer than the VG+ copies I've seen, but not NM in my book.
Note: As a collector of over 35 years experience, I can honestly say that this copy will double or triple in value over the next ten years or so as they become more in demand and copies this nice become ever increasingly scarce. Get one now before it's too late.
