" NIGHTMARE IN RED "  (1955) (NBC-TV - PROJECT XX Series) Music by ROBERT RUSSELL BENNETT.   Score Composed and Conducted for the 1950's NBC Television Series  "PROJECT XX", by ROBERT RUSSELL BENNETT.  This is one of a series, all albums on RCA Custom pressings and not meant for domestic distribution. (Not sure what their target audience was!)  A number of these contain dialogue as well as the music, but this is one of those rare occasions when only BENNET'S music is heard, making it even more a special Collectors Item.   "NIGHTMARE IN RED" is a documentary that covers the old Czarist order, the revolutions of 1905 and 1917 and the growth of Communism inside Russia from its early days to the mid-1950s.   Bennett's score is eclectic, and even has some of his Broadway "sound" at times, in addition to symphonic elements and 'tunes'.  It has a strong opening, possibly the theme of "PROJECT XX".    ROBERT RUSSELL BENNETT is perhaps the most highly regarded of all the great Broadway Orchestrator's, and a composer in his own right. Under contract to RCA, it is his orchestrations that you hear on the classic RICHARD RODGERS score for "VICTORY AT SEA", and on more Broadway Original Cast Recordings than I could mention here.   This RCA pressing for NBC-TV is numbered F8-OP-3406/7.
