Description
NICK DRAKE
Fruit Tree Sampler
1979 Release on UK Island Records. Cat. # RSS 7
Incredibly rare (only around 200 – 250 ever made) promo LP, distributed to the press to promote the release of the ‘Fruit Tree- The Complete Recorded Works’ LP box set in 1979. This sampler is one-sided and contains 5 tracks; the B-side is blank and the label reads ‘Do not play this side’. The catalogue and matrix number of this release is RSS 7, although the catalogue number on the front sleeve is NDSP 100 which is actually the number for the box set.
This item very rarely comes up for auction and must rank amongst the most collectable of Nick Drake releases.

4. Fruit Tree
5. Rider on the Wheel
Condition
Vinyl- In general the condition is Excellent. Tracks 2 + 3 appear unplayed; there is a surface mark on tracks 4 + 5 but this in no way affects play (played once to check). There are also a couple of very light paper scuffs on the centre blank run out groove; again these obviously don’t affect play. The vinyl is great quality and the sound reproduction is superb. There is though a small scratch on the lead in groove and Track one. This creates some surface noise on the lead in, and a click on the first 10 seconds of the track. After this it plays perfectly.
Sleeve- VG+ : Matt black sleeve, which has ringwear outline of record on front & back. Also some small areas where the black has rubbed off. At the right hand side opening there are 2 very small (about 2mm) cuts. Small dent in bottom left of side spine.
Label- mint condition, vibrant colours & looks like new

All records and covers are graded according to Record Collector magazine guide- All items are inspected thoroughly and graded, if anything, conservatively
MINT: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.
