Description
This is a 2nd pressing, Pink-rim (Palm Island) copy of Nick Drake debut classic Folk-Rock album "Five Leaves Left". This album didn't sell many copies when released in 1969 & is still quite scarce even in this second manifestation. It is even rarer to find the vinyl in as excellent condition as this one; truly Exc.+ ! I'm only selling this copy (which I've had since the mid-seventies) because I've managed to acquire a Pink label original recently.
Cat.No. ILPS-9105; Run-off matrix A-3U & B-3U. The vinyl looks stunning with just the faintest of paper withdrawal marks; glossy & just-new looking. The sound is fantastic when played on my Linn Sondek LP12; no extra, unwanted noises & a full, vibrant musical warmth.
Unfortunately, the gatefold cover is not quite up to the same high standard of the vinyl within; the previous owner (still 25+ years ago) saw fit to protect the sleeve edges with sellotape albeit done very neatly & still in good order. There are a couple of light scuff marks on the front & on the spine; nothing major . The lettering on the spine is all clearly readable, but there is some corner wear as well as the other marking along the spine where it has been folded back. The inside of the gatefold is in Excellent condition with no unsightly marks at all. The record comes with the 1970's custom Island, pale blue inner bag, poly-lined & with the Pink "i" logo; in Excellent order.
The music is timelessly classic Folk-Rock with a hint of psychedelic whimsey ! Well what do you expect from Nick Drake with Richard Thompson also present. Favourite tracks include; "Time Has Told Me", "River Man", "Way To Blue", "Cello Song" &, "Fruit Tree"; 10 tracks in all.
