"COMING HOME by NEIL YOUNG *LIVE* 1973

Up for purchase is Coming Home by Neil Young, an unofficial release that was recorded live, drawn from performances at JFK Center in Washington, D.C., on January 28th and Scope Arena in Norfolk, VA, on January 29th. This is an original, authentic, first U.S. pressing - first and only pressing and first pressing anywhere, not a record club album, a reissue or a counterfeit pressing. No Bar Code. Neil Young with the Stray Gators on their first-quarter 1973 tour of North America. Recording was mastered 16-track direct to disc by computer - August 22 & 23, 1973. Never officially released. Mine has solid white labels, no writing. I only know it is the Coming Home album because of the catalog number on the deadwax. Extremely rare. Matrix/Runout: 73028-A 1881 A; 73028-B 1881 B. Terrific Tracklist: Side 1: On the Way Home/Here We Are in the Years/ After the Goldrush/Out on the Weekend; Side 2: Harvest/Old Man/Heart of Gold /Time Fades Away/Lookout Joe

“Over three months, Neil Young planned to visit 65 cities, stop for a break at the end of March, then resume in August and shift to Europe in November, playing seven shows in the UK. Then back to America to play the final dates. The Stray Gators lasted only until end March and were replaced by the Santa Monica Flyers for the rest of the tour. Young opened with an acoustic set, playing the ballads from After the Goldrush and Harvest, winning the audience completely and setting the stage for his electric set with the Stray Gators. The critics praised his shows. Young was obviously stressed out. Rock ‘n’ roll was not making him happy and Young felt disconnected from his fans. This unhappy period is documented on Time Fades Away, the album. No doubt it remains unreleased because Young wants to forget. It would take the successful 1976 tour with Crazy Horse to lift his spirits and set him in a new direction as a rock ‘n’ roll survivor. Of all the shows from the ’73 tour, this is one of the best in sound quality. The vocals are upfront and Young sings well. There’s also the rare "Here We Are in the Years." The drums and guitars are properly balanced, offering a solid backing to the singing. The sound is excellent.

The vinyl is in very good condition with only superficial cosmetic marks that will not affect play. The vinyl still has all the shine and luster of new, and the labels are clean with no stickers or damage. The album cover is in very good condition. It is just an off-white sleeve with a green and black label sticker on the front, which is in good shape but the cardboard outer sleeve has some spots and creases with a bot of ringwear. No splits, tears or writing. The original generic inner sleeve is in very good condition with no splits, tears or writing. See photos for details. All of the records I am selling are from either my own personal collection or my brother's, and they have been in storage since the 1980's. If you are interested in buying more than one album, I will gladly discount the second one by at least the $3.00 I would have to pay if it were shipped to a different person, rather than with another LP to the same person. I may be willing to discount further so just message me and ask! Likewise, if there is a "lot" of multiple albums for sale and you do not need or want one or two of them, let me know and we can work out a price for the one(s) you do want. One owner, from a smoke-free environment. Shipping is QUICK and FREE! Except for weekends, we ship the same day if purchased before noon, or the next day if after. All albums are shipped carefully in boxes made specifically for LPs, after first being wrapped in bubble wrap. Additionally, the vinyl is removed from the cover and placed in a paper sleeve next to the cover and original sleeve for shipping to prevent seam splitting. Buy with confidence, your satisfaction is guaranteed by our flexible return policy and 100% positive feedback score.
