'Of Queues And Cures'
Charly, UK, 1978
CRL 5010
HIGHLY SOUGHT after British progressive rock unit formed around the Canterbury scene during the mid 70's by a bunch of eggheads. The sound is both complex and forceful with all the really useful componants of most early seventies progressive rock thrown into a a blender and then fuel injected with a solid heavy rhythm section.
The tracks are superbly pompous with loads of interesting time changes and unexpected blasts of melodic heaviousity that brings to mind bands like Gracious, Gong, Yes, Gnidrolog and even Egg. Fine musicians featuring former Egg, Khan and Hatfield And The North keyboardist Dave Stewart, the Hatfiled's Phil Miller and Pip Pyle. Long mostly instrumental songs are the order of the day.
Amazingly they failed to take the world by storm and after mutating through a series of revised line ups punk rock killed them stone dead. Sad.
