An extremely collectible copy of this rare and highly sought after 1966 folk gem

Nadia Cattouse hailed from Belize. On the 1960's folk scene she was a contemporary of Julie Felix and Fairport Convention, and was called by Melody Maker "one of the giants of the folk-song revival in Britain". With Robin Hall and Jimmie Macgregor she made Songs of Grief & Glory (1967). Her album Earth Mother (1970) was partly recorded at the 1969 Edinburgh Festival. Among other compilations, Nadia Cattouse features on Cult Cargo: Belize City Boil Up (2005), singing "Long Time Boy", and on the 1972 album Club Folk 2 (Peg Records PS3), singing "B. C. People" and "All Around My Grandmother's Floor". The album for sale here was Nadia Cattouse's first album on the revered, short-lived, and hence sought after Reality record label.

It's hard to fault this package in any way. Both sides of the vinyl gleam with the original lacquered sheen. The vinyl is totally flat and appears to be in as good a condition as when it was originally purchased. Hold it up in a bright light, and at the correct angle, and it's just possible to detect a very few, small mild paper scuffs and wispy hairlines but these are each negligible. EXCELLENT+

The labels are pristine. Not even the usual faint trace of spindle lines adjacent to the centre hole. NEAR MINT!

The gorgeous laminated (both sides) outer sleeve is excellent+. All of the edges and corners remain nicely defined with no rubbing or scuffing, as is the spine, and all of the colours have retained their rich vibrancy. No creases either. The opening edge remains beautifully defined with no fraying whatsoever. The only minor blemishes are some minimal laminate lifting on the front side towards the spine, and the numbers "2" and "5" which have been lightly scored into the laminate towards the top right hand corner of the front side. But  nothing to  diminish the overall remarkable quality of this long lost folk classic. EXCELLENT+

The audio quality is yet again superb. Beautiful tone and clarity throughout and no distortion whatsoever, even on the higher frequencies. No background crackle, no "pops" or "clicks"...perfect! This album has obviously been played only a very few times.

Comes complete with the original plain white inner which remains fully functional - just some mild creasing towards the corners.

I can't imagine that another copy of this 50 year old long lost folk gem exists which is in better condition than this!

I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Mint

Description: The record itself is in brand new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality. The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in perfect condition. Records advertised as Sealed or Unplayed should be Mint.

Excellent

Description: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packag­ing might have slight wear and/or creasing.

Very Good

Description: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable sur­face marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

Good

Description: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.

Fair 

Description: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for prop­erly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.

Poor

Description: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

Bad

Description: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
