Mott The Hoople - Positive Metal Master Disc / Pressing Plate

 

Up for auction this time is a very rare metal master disc / pressing plate for the Mott The Hoople track "Rest in Peace".  This track was released in 1974 by CBS Records as the B-side of the "The Golden Age Of Rock N' Roll" single. 

The ultimate collectors item for any collection and impossible to find.

Rest In Peace (matrix CBS-S 2177 B2)

 This disc is the positive master "mother" disc that was used to produce the finished 'negative' pressing plate.  It is 8 1/2" diameter with a large centre hole and as it is a positive disc, it can be played on a stereo - though I wouldn't recommend it!  As this disc has the same matrix number as the finished vinyl release, it is the actual plate used in the manufacturing process to produce the actual pressing plates used on the pressing machine.  The disc comes in its original stores box from the record pressing plant and is in excellent condition.
