Hello, up for auction is the 1996 release of This Is A Long Drive For Someone With Nothing To Think About by Modest Mouse. A 2xLP release on Up Records (UP027).
COVER is G/VG. The cover has definitely taken on some wear and tear over the years. Most noticeably on the left seam where there is a 11/2" split (please see photos). Thankfully it doesn't affect the text of the band name or album title. Otherwise the other edges are pretty worn as are the corners. There are two 2-3" creases on the lower left corner of the front cover and a 31/2" crease along the bottom right corner of the back cover. Both front and back covers have faint ring wear. While there is a fair amount of cosmetic damage there is no writing, cut outs, or stamps and the cover still securely contains the vinyl.
INNER PICTURE/LYRIC SLEEVES are present and are VG. Both have a 2-3" split on the side and the one that features the song listing and credits has 3" split on the bottom. Otherwise they are in pretty decent shape.
VINYL is VG/VG+
SIDE A is VG/VG+ There is some slight crackling, surface noise at the very beginning of the first track "Dramamine" but that quickly subsides. On the same track some moderate popping develops for about 3 seconds (nothing too distracting). Other than that the Side A plays really nice.
SIDE B is VG/VG+ Side B sounds much like Side A. Some popping/static sounds develop toward the end of the first track "Beach Side Property" but, again, it's nothing too distracting.
SIDE C is VG/VG+ Side C begins with audible surface noise (sounds something like static -- present but not overwhelming) which becomes less audible as Side C progresses.
SIDE D is VG/VG+ Side D has more static-y popping between songs which on the third song, "Edit The Bad Parts" extends into the song itself. It is largely drowned out once the drums begin about 5-10 seconds into the track. At the very end of the same track, there is some more audible, yet light, popping for a few seconds.
All in all I'd say both discs play pretty well -- varying degrees of surface noise and occasional light popping being the only real draw back.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
