Description

Molbey's Message Hank Mobley Quintet, Quartet, Sextet Prestige 7061 mono LP. Original Deep groove pressing with yellow fireworks label, 446 W. 50th St., N.Y.C. address, and RVG on the trail-off wax. Sidemen are Donald Byrd, Jackie Mclean, Barry Harris, Doug Watkins, and Art Taylor. Tunes are: Bouncin' With Bud/52nd Steet Theme/Au Private/Minor Disturbance/Little Girl Blue/Alternating Current .

Condition - Grading is Visual Under Bright Light

Cover is a strong VG. The front cover graphics are sharp and colorful. The corners are worn with the lower corners bumped. The upper right corner has a 1/4 inch split. Both lower cornrs have 1/2 inch of seam wear from the corners. There are staple holes in the corner areas and the upper middle, about a dozen pairs on the top and half a dozen on the bottom.The back cover slick is solid with a name in ink whited out on the upper left edge, a stamp on the upper right edge, and a small tear on the slick (not the cover on the upper edge near the middle), a light crease on the bottom right corner, and some light overall edge wear and browning. lower right edge and some light surface wear. "Printed and Packaged by GEM Albums, Inc. N.Y." on the bottom right corner A pretty cover despite the flaws, solid and collectable but not spectacular.

LP is a glossy VG+ Side A has some light sleeve wear and a few hairlines. Side B has a little more sleeve wear, a few more hairlines, and several light, long and thin surface scuffs, nothing feelable or serious. Labels are beautiful with a few very faint marks visible under bright angled light. Includes original tattered rice paper sleeve that has done a good job of protecting the record but I will ship the record in another sleeve. A solid example of a very rare and desireable record.

Overall not perfect or NM but a solid copy of a rare jazz LP. This copy should some collector very happy. Check out my other auctions for more rare and interesting records. Winning auctions may be combined to save postage cost. Check out my feedback for results of recent rare record auctions.

Grading

Grading is SS (still sealed), NM, VG+, VG. The myriad of grading systems on Ebay is a good indicator of the subjective nature of grading. In my opinion NM is close to perfect with one or two very minor flaws, VG+ is above average and collectable and VG is average used condition but probably the best choice for playing. I'm a collector and try to describe LPs as accurately as possible, the way I would want them described to me. The pictures should at least give a good indication of the condition of the covers and labels. Please see my seller feedback for comments on my grading. If you don't agree with how I'm calling a record that is your privilege but with all respect please don't bid.

Packaging

LP will be shipped outside of jacket in record bag and boxed for protection using an LP shipping box with cardboard stiffeners.

Terms and Payment

Low starting price and no reserve. Seven day auction. Payment can be made through Paypal, money orders or personal checks. Checks will be held to clear. Paypal payment must be made within 48 hours of auction close or seven days for other forms of payment unless other arragements are made before end of auction.

Shipping and Insurance

I don't profit from shipping. If an overage occurs I will refund the difference.

Priority mail with free delivery confirmation in US. Insurance is optional but I cannot be responsible for uninsured shipments.

Shipping methods are First Class or Priority International. First Class cannot be tracked. Please see shipping calculator for cost.

Refund Policy

I stand behind what I sell, LP may be returned in original condition for a full refund minus return shipping costs if I am notified within three days of receipt of LP. No rebates if you keep the LP. I don't end auctions early, there is no Buy It Now price, emails asking for a BIK price will be ignored. Good luck!
