Description

Mischa Elman - TCHAIKOVSKY and WIENIAWSKI - Rca LM-1740 (Red/Silver Label) - EXTREMELY RARE!

He was astounding everyone for so long with his level of violin play, no one thought he could be touched. Fact is, in his presence, it was said, a most certain light formed, a golden hue about the fingers.

Here, Mischa Elman, the "man with the golden tone," as he came to be known, plays music of Tchaikovsky and Wieniawski, piano accompaniment by Joseph Seiger.

The Tchaikovsky includes SONG WITHOUT WORDS, SCHERZO No. 2, ANDANTE CANTABILE, VALSE SENTIMENTALE, NONE BUT THE LONELY HEART, and RUSSIAN DANCE, among others. From Wieniawski, LEGENDE, MAZURKA IN D, -IN G, -IN A, and POLONAISE BRILLANTE IN D.

A rarity, to be sure, the jacket of this copy in need of slight seam repair up top and on the bottom. Now, it looks quite presentable (though tight-fitting, as these old jackets often are, with a touch of corner nibble remaining).

Record within, a stout red/silver label Rca, is clean as can be, with but paper scuffing of the lightest nature in one small area. Should play NM- to VG+.

A trophy of the vinyl kind, in the Hall of Great Violinists.
