Label Discription: Yellow and black fireworks label with 466 W. 50th St. NYC address and deep groove.
Notes: Excellent original copy. The cover is beautiful, well maintained,seams split in 2 places, very small piece of writing to bottom right of rear of sleeve (see photo). The record is not quite mint, an excellent copy must say it is VG++, seldom if ever played. RVG is etched in the dead wax.
Interesting Notes:
Charlie Parker, under contract with Mercury Records, is listed as "Charlie Chan" on the sleeve. Although Ira Gitler's liner notes suggest that Davis and Parker are the only soloists on "'Round Midnight," Rollins plays a one-chorus solo before Davis (1:27-1:55); after Davis's solo Parker solos for two choruses (2:24-4:23); and Rollins plays another one-chorus solo after another Davis interlude (5:24-5:57). Both tenors are audible during the out chorus. Rollins solos first on both takes of "Serpent's Tooth"; at the end of his solo on take 1 he quotes "I Can Do Anything You Can Do Better." Parker solos first on "Compulsion."
