Very good US import. Stunning artwork on the Varese Sarabande label with detailed liner notes.

This 1980 album marks the first issue of the soundtrack.
The movie (1953, dir. Richard Thorpe) starred Robert Taylor as Sir Lancelot, Ava Gardner as Queen Guinevere, Mel Ferrer as King Arthur, Anne Crawford as Morgan Le Fay, Stanley Baker as Modred and Felix Aylmer as Merlin.
 
Condition (refer also to notes at bottom):
VINYL: VG+. Looks very clean in visual inspection. Played just pre-listing and sound clarity is great throughout. Plays with no skipping, jumping or sticking.
OUTER SLEEVE/COVER: VG. Colours remain vibrant and only very minor edge wear. Slight damage on top right of the front cover.
INNER SLEEVE: VG+. Original. Clear poly sleeve. Folds and creases through normal handling but intact.

Review:

This Varese Sarabande LP features the first release of the major sections of Miklós Rózsa's work on the original film score tracks for the 1953 costume adventure film Knights of the Round Table, composed and orchestrated by him in most vivid fashion and played by a studio orchestra of somewhere over 70 musicians.

It is transferred in crisp, glittering textures that never betray its early-'50s origins (or, more to the point, reveal just how far ahead of many of the commercial record labels of the period Hollywood was in recording music) -- all of the characteristic Rózsa attributes are here in gorgeous detail, including the rich timbres, lush, memorable melodies (even in the usual throwaway sections of underscoring), which makes it all worthwhile and then some.

Unlike the CD release three years later in 1983, this Knights of the Round Table LP release is not broken up by only two chapter markers. On the CD version it creates a slightly oddly balanced two-track assembly of over 30 minutes of music.

EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and / or creasing.

VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.

GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discolouration, etc.

FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and / or defaced.

POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.

BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection filler.
