Michael Jackson Dangerous Test Pressing Picture Disc In Mint Condition - Rare Oportunity to buy this Ultra Rare Promo
This is the ultra rare Michael Jackson Dangerous test pressing picture disc which plays Richard Clayderman Piano Music.
The disc has been stored away in a white sleeve in a smoke free home. It is in absolute mint condition.
The picture disc has a clear rim which you can see in the photo against the white sleeve background, this is one of the signs it is the mega rarity and not some bootleg.
Matrix numbers XSLP-970 & XSLP-971 can be seen close up on the disc, but do not show up in photos.
The disc features the same picture on both the front and rear.
We have receipt for the item when it was brought from eil over 12 years ago for over £1000! It is easily worth more than that now.
The history of this highly collectible Michael Jackson picture disc
There are only very few of these picture discs existence, it is thought only only 26 discs were ever produced and distributed to Sony executives, who were very impressed.
However, when Sony realised that "Dangerous" was to be a double vinyl album, unwilling to delay the album's release even further by producing two picture discs, they dropped the idea altogether. Sony immediately withdrew all 26 copies for destruction.
However an unknown quantity were not retuned and are still in circulation. Michael Jackson fan magazine "Back and White" issue 3 estimated there were only 12 worldwide.
The story behind the Dangerous Picture Disc is almost as interesting as the disc itself. Long before Michael had finished recording the album, Sony decided that there would be a picture disc to accompany the standard vinyl, CD and cassette editions - as was the case with BAD and Thriller.
In the absence of Michael's tracks, they used just "any old master tape" that was at hand. This turned out to be Richard Clayderman's "Xmas Album" featuring songs such as "Silent Night" and "Jingle Bells".
Due to the valuable nature of the item, it will have to sent signed for and fully insured.
