Description
Meteor 5000: Elmore James, I Believe/I Held My Baby Last Night.
Scarce original yellow label first press from December 1952, recorded in Universal Studio in Chicago, the previous month with Elmore James (vcl/gtr); J T Brown (tnr sax); Johnny Jones (pno); Ransom Knowling (bs); Odie Payne Jr (dms).
The A-side unfortunately has one deep scratch over the first 10 grooves that needs extra pressure on the needle in order not to skip. Otherwise VG(+) condition with full gloss.
The B-side plays perfectly and grades VG(+) with full gloss.
Both labels are clean with minor ring wear (see scans) and grades VG(+).
NB: this record was pressed in 1952 and plays best with a 78 rpm stylus.
I grade: M / M- / VG+ / VG / VG- / G+ and I will not list records of lesser grade that that.
