Description

This classic Metallica LP "Ride The Lightning" is from my personal collection of over 50 years that I am now downsizing. The LP was originally released on independent label Megaforce Records in July 1984. When the band signed with Electra Records a few months later, it was reissued in September 1984 and as a result, this LP is classified as an early U.S. Specialty pressing from the first Electra production run. It is distinguished from later Allied Record Company pressings and subsequent reissues by its Specialty Records manufacture, Masterdisk mastering provenance and retention of the dual Electra/Megaforce label credit.  Side 1 Matrix Runout 60396-A; Side 2 - 60396-B. 

Prior to listing vinyl, I clean and test play both sides in their entirety in order to evaluate the record and sound quality. Note here that I am not an expert when it comes to grading and do my best to assign objective and accurate ratings using Goldmine standards so please review the photos and use your own judgement. 

I hadn't played this record in decades and was pleasantly surprised at the results. The record has some signs of wear in the form of light scuffs and  scratches that don't affect the listening experience. Both sides played clean and there are no skips. Overall condition is VG+. The album cover has creases and bruised corners, minor ring wear and no seam splits. Overall condition is VG+. The original album insert with photos and credits is included (with some wrinkles and creases). The original inner sleeve has been replaced by a new acid free one.
